What is aging?

Ageing or aging (American English) [syn: senescent] n 1. Is the accumulation of changes in an organism or object over time. Ageing in humans refers to a multidimensional process of physical, psychological, and social change. This includes the imbalance and/or loss of hormone levels leading to diminished body functions that include fat accumulation, muscle reduction, memory loss, tiredness, mood swings, decreased bone mass, skin thinning, decreased sex drive, and conditions related to an less effective immune system. 2. The gradual changes in the structure and function of humans and animals that occur with the passage of time, that eventually leads to the increased probability of death older as well as a decreasing quality of life.

What is Anti-Aging Medicine? (American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine)

1. Anti-aging medicine is a medical specialty founded on the application of advanced scientific and medical technologies for the early detection, prevention, treatment, and reversal of age-related dysfunction, disorders, and diseases. 2. It is a healthcare model promoting innovative science and research to prolong the healthy human lifespan. 3. As such, anti-aging medicine is based on principles of sound and responsible medical care that are consistent with those applied in other preventive health specialties

The Aging Problem

Current medical thinking has implicated poor nutrition, lack of exercise and loss of hormones or hormone deficiencies, and free radical damage as the main reason that we age. The good news is that Saylor Medical Group has safe treatments available to correct these issues.

When we are in our twenties we don’t think about aging. When we get to thirty, it slowly begins for many of us. We notice we don’t have the energy we had before, we don’t recovery as quickly from exercise, parting or illness. For some their concentration or mental quickness is a little less. Its easy to put on weight (fat). Your body doesn’t match the youth you feel in you mind. While you are not old you have to admit you are feeling older.

As the years go by both men and women go through many physical, mental and emotional changes. In women the changes are called pre-menopause, prei-menopause, or menopause and in men it is called andropause. In both men and women the decline in Growth Hormone is called Somatopause.

We are also experiencing free radical damage to our cells due to the above in combination with the toxins in our foods and eviroment. Free radical damage also occurs naturally from the bodies normal processes.

All of the above contribute to damage to the cells which equals aging. We have many ways to stop and even reverse this process.

Why Is This Happening?

When you’re young, your body is in balance with all systems working at an optimal level. However, as the years go by our diet, stress, sleep, and exposure to toxins start to make our body and its various systems work less efficiently. Some of the main areas of change are brain chemicals and hormone levels. When young our hormones tend to be high, accounting for among other things increased energy, high libido, decreased fat and increased lean muscle mass. However, as you age your body produces lower levels of hormones, which can have negative effects on your bodies functions. The growth hormones that helped you form lean muscle mass and less fat: human growth hormone(HGH), testosterone, DHEA and thyroid, for example will drop dramatically as you age, so much so, that, even as you age if you have not gained weight, the ratio of fat to muscle will increase. At the same time estrogen and progesterone imbalances begin to show up causing a mirad of symptoms. During this time our risk factors for age related diseases increase considerably.

How often do we see chronic illness such as heart disease, cancer, dementia and osteoporosis when we are in our twenties? Rarely! How often do we see these diseases when we are older (40’s, 50’s and sixties). Society today excepts these changes as normal aging. Many of us today are asking is this really normal - can it be changed?

Can the hands of time be stopped or even turned back?

Short answer-YES. Today medical anti-aging science is allowing aging to be treated like just another medical condition.  It can be slowed and even reversed. No longer do we just have to accept getting old as something we can do nothing about. It is treatable. You can add more years to your life and more life to your years.

We have been led to believe that the changes that occur to our bodies with age are inevitable. In fact, there is no illness that has been show to be a direct result of the number of birthdays we have had. Many of these changes can be minimized or prevented by recent advances in the field of Anti-aging and Rejuvenation Medicine. However, anti-aging is much more then skin deep or the way we look at ourselves in the mirror. You can’t achieve anti-aging through a skin cream, a super fruit or protein drink, a piece of fitness equipment, or even a vitamin pill (not yet, at least). True anti-aging medicine involves a regimen incorporating multiple elements of scientific based age-reversal medical interventions administered under the guidance of a trained anti-aging physician or health professional. It is the medical science of incorporating bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), proper nutrition and exercise in an individuals’ daily health regime.

Once you come to the realization that it is never too late to feel and look young, and once you start working towards improving your health, your quality of life greatly improves and with this improved quality of life, comes longevity. This is the goal of Saylor Medical Group where we are dedicated to helping you live a better life through our New Thinner Healthier Younger YouÔ program. We believe “aging as we know it is optional”. We have 60 and 70 years old patients who exercise regularly, eat right, and supplement with bio-identical hormones and pharmaceutical grade nutriceuticals that feel and act younger than people decades younger. They are active and feel great just as they did when they were much younger. Anti-aging and rejuvenation programs can statistically add 10-20 years to your lifespan and turn back your biological clock.

When Should I Start ?

Now is the best time and it is never too late to start. The sooner you start the easier it is to maintain balance and retain youthful function. However, recovery can be made at any age. Aging is now looked at as a collection of diseases and pathologies. As stated above aging itself is not the cause of health issues be it a rise in glucose, increase in blood pressure, increase in cholesterol, decrease metabolism and increased risk factors for age related diseases (ex. heart disease, cancer, Atzheimers and osteoporosis). Aging is also related with visually things such as lines, wrinkles, increased fat, decreased lean muscle, thin skin, increase depression and anxiety. All of these are symptoms of the imbalances that occur as we age. They can be prevented, controlled, and reversed through diet, exercise, and replenishing and optimizing hormones as they decline with age.

What Is The Plan?

At Saylor Medical Group, Inc. we utilize lifestyle plans combined with the medical science of hormone replacement therapy to provide a path to reverse the biological clock and give the body back what we lose that as we age. By bringing hormone levels back to their youthful levels, it will help you to feel and look our best. Think of aging has a complex effect of low or imbalanced hormones including low Growth Hormone (HGH) , low Testosterone, low DHEA, high and low cortisol, low and unbalanced progesterone and estrogen. This and other factors also cause an imbalance in brain chemistry. All of these influence weight, mood, sleep, energy, and every system in the body. Long term imbalances cause the body to age and become susceptible to illness.

While there are many different options available to look, feel, and act younger; it is important that you choose a health care provider who can develop a customized program that fits your medical needs.

We have the knowledge and experience to provide you with a plan that is safe and produces results. Our plan will provide an excellent quality of life.
